Our Mission
Preserving lives and livelihoods across the Himalayas
Established in 1982 by the “Himalayan Legends”, the Himalayan Environment Trust was envisioned to solve the tourism-driven degradation.
HET led a campaign to improve access to sustainable menstrual healthcare practices and products, touching the lives of 𝟕𝟓𝟎𝟎+ 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝟒 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬.
We have been leading bi-annual waste collection drives for the last 40 years, touching 8 regions and over 400 villages.
We provide business strategy support to 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬 across the Himalayas, helping them improve their production technologies and market
HET supported 𝟐𝟎𝐊+ people adopt clean cooking tech, reducing Acute Respiratory Infections by 𝟑𝟎% and average carbon emissions by 𝟒𝟎%
𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟒𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬, our trustees have been vocal advocates for the “𝐇𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞”, sensitizing policymakers, travelers, thought-leaders, environmentalists, and industrialists.
We have established more than 𝟏𝟐𝟎+ 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 across 𝟕 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, nurturing love for reading amongst 𝟏𝟓𝟎𝟎𝟎+ 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧.
Created and widely propagated a set of guiding principles for Himalayan travelers, 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝟓 𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐡 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞.
