SANITATION
Linking thought and action with personal hygiene
Menstrual health continues to remain a tabooed topic across the Himalayas, resulting in women resorting to unhygienic practices and being subjected to regressive social norms. Conventional sanitary napkins, containing 90% plastics, and rags are commonly used by women across the region, exposing them to infections and illnesses while simultaneously degrading the environment.
In the quest to solve the twin challenges of environment degradation and menstrual hygiene, HET has organized ‘Cloth Pad Distribution Drives’ and ‘Awareness Campaigns’. By normalizing discussion around menstruation, HET has supported Himalayan women to access sound information and become self-aware.
