Trustees
The Himalayan Environment Trust was established in 1989 to moblilize support from mountaineers, trekkers, alpine clubs, adventure tour operators and the Himalayan region governments, to protect the Himalayan environment, its flora and fauna and natural resources as well as protect the customs and interests of the local people.
The Founding Trustees which included Sir Edmund Hillary, Captain. M.S. Kohli, Chris Bonington, Moris Herzog and Junko Tabai who all coined a code of conduct and ethics to be followed by visitors as part of a continuing effort to maintain and sustain the well being of the Himalayan region.

Managing Trustee
Maninder Kohli was drawn to the mountains at an early age inspired by his father, Captain M.S.Kohli. While his travels have taken him across the Himalaya climbing, trekking, skiing, rafting and mountain biking his favourite adventure sport remains trekking and he has participated in over 50 treks in the Himalaya, of which several have been exploratory treks.
He has previously worked with Citibank for 20 years where as Senior Vice President he officiated on the Managing Committee of the Consumer Bank.
Maninder currently manages the Delhi chapter of the Himalayan Club, is a member of the Indian Mountaineering Foundation and is the Managing Trustee of the Himalayan Environment Trust.
In 2010 Maninder founded Juniper Outdoor Pursuits Centre based in New Delhi, through which he continues to motivate people to the world of adventure
